Language Arts Information
We use a program called Sylvan along with a center based program to meet all of our Language Arts strands. Each student will work at their own pace and instructional level in each of the Language Arts areas, based on their individual assessment scores. We are currently testing your child in each skill area.
These areas include: Parts of Speech, Sentences, Combining Sentences, Writing Paragraphs, Spelling, Punctuation, Capitalization, Research Skills, Reference Sources, (Maps, Charts, and Graphs), Sounds and Letters, Word Analysis, Word Meaning, Synonyms and Antonyms, Context Clues, Main Idea and Details, Constructing Meaning, Evaluating Information, Characters and Plot, Reading Literature.
I will send home their assessment levels/scores in a couple of weeks when all assessments are complete and graded. I will also send home the areas they will begin their Sylvan Skills work in and an explanation of the programs and centers we will be using in class.
